We hear concerns about safe working conditions and over-
stretched watch schedules. So we know it’s not a paradise for all
out there. We realize the industry means different things to different
people, much the same way that life doesn’t deal everyone the
same hand of cards.

And on that note, we introduce a new section called “Grab Bag”.
We’re confident the section will be useful to visitors. It’ll be a “grab
bag” of jobs that tugboat people could fill, despite the fact that the
positions don’t fit the typical profile of captain, engineer or
deckhand. The positions will range from corporate level managers
to college-level instructors… from entry-level laborers to boatyard
utility workers. Some will be lofty… some will be humble. Some
will require college degrees…. some will require high school
diplomas. Some will faithfully be in tugboat companies… some
will be in the public sector. It will literally be a “grab bag”. And we
know that what could appear as an awesome opportunity for one
person might seem like a runner-up prize for another person
whose heart was set on something else. That person may scratch
his or her head and say, “what the heck is that doing here?” But
after speaking with many of you and trying to figure out ways to
make tugboatjobs.net more helpful, the general response was…

“Do it. It can’t hurt. If you post something here and we’re not
interested, it doesn’t matter. No one’s going to mind or be insulted.
Hopefully, it’ll be helpful to fellow mariners out there, and that’s
what matters.”

Well, folks… we appreciate that sort of feedback. And we
appreciate your good will towards your brothers and sisters
working out there with you.

“Thanks for your input.”
